At Body Works we offer a dedicated Sports Massage service, provided by Jo Hennell, our fully qualified Sports Massage therapist. Sessions can be booked using our online booking service or by calling the clinic. Jo offers sessions that are 30, 45 and 60 minutes long. If you’re unsure as to which length of session to book, please ask to speak to one of our therapists and they’ll be happy to advise you.
Sports Massage can be beneficial to a wide range of people in a variety of different ways but is particularly effective for those engaged in a training regime to compete in a specific sporting event, such as a half marathon, or those who have recently completed one and want to aid their recovery from it.
All physiotherapists are trained in the use of soft tissue massage and manipulation – just one of a range of manual skills we have to offer and which we use as appropriate in conjunction with joint manipulation, exercise therapy and other modalities, such as acupuncture, when treating clients’ injuries.
Sports Massage represents a specific branch of this soft tissue treatment which has become increasingly renowned in recent years for its recuperative benefits after vigorous exercise. For this reason, it now means that most physiotherapists, like Jo Hennell, who offer Sports Massage as a stand-alone treatment, will undergo additional Sports Massage training in order to become certified practitioners.
